Hi y'all! This is Stephanie from The Learning Chambers. I've been missing from the iTeach Second blog this summer, but I'm very excited to get back to blogging with some fabulous second grade teachers. I have so many wonderful ideas and I can't wait to share them with you guys this school year.
I have just 15 days left of my summer, so my teacher brain is back almost back in full swing. I can't get back into my classroom until August...so in the meantime, I've been busy making lists, getting organized, and creating things for my classroom. I'm also refinishing some of my old classroom items using spray paint.
Click on the picture to read about it on my blog.
Another thing that I LOVE about getting organized are labels. I'm relabeling my old supply tubs and I can't wait to share how they turn out in August. I decided to use the sky blue Avery Labels that are in the top left corner. You can click HERE to grab them for FREE.
I would LOVE to help you get organized for back to school. Check out these goodies that you could win to help with back to school time.
Plus, your choice of a set of my labels!
Good luck! Enter using the Rafflecopter below!
I didn't know Mr. Sketch markers came in ice cream flavor so. YUM!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI am so happy to see the new Mr. Sketch markers! I love smelly markers, pencils, etc.
ReplyDeleteI cannot wait to paint some plastic bins. I had no idea there was paint that actually worked for this. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI try to organize as much as possible before I leave for summer. It makes from an easier start to the new year.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite back-to-school organizational tip: Keep your 'To Do Lists' from year to year. Then you don't have to wonder what is important for you and your classroom each year. (Because the new year will swing back around;))

Label the caps of glue sticks with students' initials of numbers. It makes finding the owner of a rogue cap a breeze
ReplyDeleteI get organized by making labels for the students to put on their materials. This keeps us both organized.
ReplyDeleteI use student mailboxes to keep their papers organized....
ReplyDeleteMy tip is to do as much laminating as possible before school starts; cut it out while watching TV; and before you know it, you're all set!
ReplyDeleteI use Excel to save me time. The first thing I do is put my students names in Excel and number them. I call the number their class address. We use those for so many things--missing papers, returning papers, emergency drill line up, supplies, etc. With their names in Excel, I can use Mail Merge to quickly and easily put their names in documents and on labels.I love tips that save me time. :-)
ReplyDeleteGroup all of your materials together for each objective. That way when you are looking for task cards, games, etc for an objective you only have to look in one bucket. :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite back to school organizational tip is to take photos of what supply bins and/or stations should look like that way students always know the expectation of what it is to look like.
ReplyDeleteA desk calendar is a definite must for me. I code it for iep meetings, reminders for progress checks, etc.
ReplyDeleteI always have extra student packs ready for any new students register after the first day. That way everything I need is readily available.
ReplyDeleteMy organizational tip: Have designated areas on extra tables or furniture to sort "whole-class" supplies that students bring in on the first day. Once it's break time you can store them away quickly since all the sorting is finished.
ReplyDeleteI really like looking back over what I did last year, and then adding to that.
ReplyDeleteSpray paint is my best friend! It is amazing the difference a change of color can make! Another tip - if you have a bulletin board or display you really like, take a picture of it and then put all the letters and cut outs in one bag with the picture! If you do this throughout the year then you can pull out what you need and have a great display easily! ~ Lisa
ReplyDeleteMy favourite back to school organizational tip is to stick with one colour scheme. All of my bulletin boards have the same colour paper covering them and all of them have black borders. I used to change out my borders with the seasons etc but that was a lot of work and made the room seem disjointed. Now it all looks like it goes together regardless of what I staple on the boards!
ReplyDeleteThank you for posting and sharing! Looks great!
ReplyDeleteThey painted my room this summer so I took pictures to remind me how I had things displayed. This should save me a lot of time since I will be busy unpacking boxed!
ReplyDeleteIt's ok if it doesn't all get finished!
